Many Employers Support Volunteering!
Did you know that many employers such as banks, insurance and medical companies etc. have internal programs in place to recognize and support team members who give their time and service to causes that are important to them like the PHMS & the PTSA. This is often written in the core values of their Corporate Responsibility: Some employers will even pay the employee and allow them a few hours in time away from work a month just to volunteer in their communities such as PHMS & the PTSA. They provide this support because they recognize the value of their team members volunteering in helping to solve social problems and in contributing to the long-term sustainability of the nonprofit organizations where their employees work and live.
Please check with your employer to see if they have any programs available that would support and allow you to volunteer in the PHMS & the PTSA.
As required by the Pinellas County School District, volunteers must be register. A volunteer registration form can be downloaded here and can always be picked up in the front office of PHMS. Please fill out completely and return with a copy of your driver’s license to Jackie Bersch, the Family and Community Relations Liaison for PHMS in the main office. You may contact her directly with any questions:
Please note that if you have previously registered within Pinellas County Schools as a volunteer, you must reactivate your status in the Portal/Focus Volunteer system. Please contact Jackie with any questions.
Volunteering does not have to be a part-time job!
Volunteering with the PHMS PTSA will keep you connected with all of the available opportunities to volunteer and be a part of your child’s school year. Even if you only had an hour to spare once a month or once in a while we have an opportunity for you.
How Can You Help?
Decades’ worth of research shows that when parents are involved, students perform better in school. They also exhibit increased motivation, better self-esteem, less drug and alcohol use and fewer instances of violent behavior.
Many times there opportunities to get involved and be a part of what is going on at PHMS even if you have a limited availability and a short amount of time. Please check out to see what times are available even if you would like to volunteer even for just an hour of your time, simply sign up here! Here is a Quick Reference Volunteer Quick Guide
