8th Grade Winter Dance Shout Out!
Board Meeting Tuesday April 10th, 5:00!
CALL TO ACTION ——Please!
There is a proposal facing our Board of Education early next week, to reduce Health classes from one semester in 6th grade AND one semester in 8th grade to JUST one semester in 7th grade. This proposal would like to revamp 6th and 8th grade PE classes TO INCLUDE more Health information. This translates to one semester of a required Health class during their middle school years and one semester of a required Health class in their high school years = 1 full year of health class during 7 years of education! That is what may be required….if this proposal passes.
In light of our recent tragedy…. the attention now being given to mental health issues and firearm safety, where will such topics be discussed/taught????? With our nationwide opioid epidemic, our devastating flu this season, our national obesity rates, the rise of vape use and e-cigarettes, underage drinking……these should be taught in PE? Not to mention stress, bullying, suicide, and reproduction.
What can you do?
* Attend the meeting at the District office at the:
School Administration Building
301 Fourth Street SW
